Verifying connectivity Print E-mail

Sometimes, your computer may say you are connected to the internet, but not display any webpages. You can test to see if you have a connection by following the steps below.

 Go to Start, click Run

Type in cmd, press OK

Type in ping.google.ca -t

Wait for a few replies then the ping statistics should show at the bottom. If it does not stop hold down the ctrl key and press c, so crtl+c, then the ping statistics should display.

If you get all replies, you are connected to the internet! You're done!

If you get 'could not reach host', or 'ping request cannot be found', type in ping 64.233.161.104 (look below).

If you get some replies, with time=80ms or greater, and some  'could not reach host', or 'ping request cannot be found', try to turn off your modem for 30 seconds and turn it back on, then try to connect again and do the same thing. If that fails, call 1-877-393-2854 for technical support.
